Mandala

This project is one where I didn't take a long time having to think it out.  I basically  drew whatever came to my mind.  Once I drew it, I had to think of  colors to  use.  So, I went to  the color pencil box and grabbed whatever came to mind.  In the end, I came out with this.

Watercolor Painting

I liked this project a lot, because of the way the colors came out and the construction.  I used watercolor pencils, then painted  over it with water.  It was an experience, because depending on how hard I colored, effected how it looked once I  put water on  it.  The only thing I would change, is  the eye, and staying in the lines.

Oil Painting

These are the two flags for the United States and France.  I decided to do the U.S. flag again, because I feel that the last time I did a  painting of a flag it turned out good.  I added the  France flag in there, because I  wanted to draw something different.  Also, I've been to France before, and  it's a beautiful country.  America and France are good friends, so I thought why not put the two together.

Cardboard Bas Relief

I chose to do dolphins for this  project, because I simply just wanted to draw some type of animal.  While researching pictures on this project, I didn't find many of animals, and the ones I did see, I didn't like.  To be honest, I really had trouble with this project.  I had to come  up with an idea, and then construct it. Once that was  accomplished, I was happy with the end product.

Metal Tooling

I chose to do a  fish for my metal tooling project, because I knew I wanted to draw a fish sometime this year, and thought it would be perfect for this project.  The body of the fish didn't really take me that long to do, it was more so finding a background and doing details on the fish.  In the  end, I'm glad with the final product and the work I put into  it.

Subtractive Plaster Sculpture

For my sculpture, I knew I wanted to draw a face, but I didn't know how to go about it.  The sketch was simple to do, but actually sculpting it was hard.  As I struggled with this piece, I asked my teacher for help, and she told my that the making of the sculpture was all up to me.  So, I took what she said and just put the drawing into my perspective.  In the end, the idea from the sketch was there, but I put my perspective on the piece.

Art Critique - Jasper Johns: 0 through 9

This artwork was made by Jasper Johns and is called 0 through 9.  It is a painting and was made in 1961.  The painting is abstract, and is based mostly off the number sequence 0-9.

You can tell that the artist put lines and shapes specifically so that you could make out the different numbers.  The colors he used and how they mash together don't confuse you, but at the same time they do.  In ways the colors help you make out each shape/number, and at the same time give an illusion of other objects like arms or legs.  Overall the way the artist made the painting, and the way he placed the colors lets you see many things, and not just one.

I think the artist wanted us to see that there can be more than one vocal point in a piece.  He gives us an illusion, and depending on the person, you see different things.  Sometimes you need to take your time, and actually look at even the smallest of details.  When you do, you can see things in a different way, or notice something you never did not notice before.

I actually really like this piece of artwork.  It inspires me, because it really makes you think, and depending on the person you see different things.  When I look at the artwork, I see the numbers three, four, and eight, but given on the title, I know there's more.  This excites me, because it causes me to actually look and give thought to what the artist is trying to say.  I congratulate how the artist accomplishes that in this painting.

Dream Board

My dream board represents me.  On it I have my goals, quotes, and things I appreciate.  I hope to accomplish and look to these things throughout the year.
